In astrology and numerology, your date of birth is important in determining the parts of your destiny.
In astrology, you look to the planets for answers, but in numerology, you use the numbers of your date of birth to determine your life path number.
This number is supposed to contain clues about part of your goal during this lifetime and about the lessons and experiences you are likely to realize.
How do you determine your life path number?
Start by converting your date of birth into unique numbers. So, for example, if you were born on August 20, 1980, you would do this:
Month: 8 (August is the 8th month)
Day: 2 – 0 – 2
Year: 1 – 9 – 8 – 0 – 18 (Continue to reduce this number to a single digit)
1 – 8 – 9
Then you add these three numbers together:
8 – 2 – 9 – 19
(Month – Day – Year)
Again, reduce this number until it is between 1 and 9
1 – 9 – 10
1 – 0 – 1
This would give you a life path number of 1.
The only time you wouldn’t reduce the numbers is if you get an 11, 22 or 33 at any stage of the process. Indeed, these are known as Master or Power Numbers.
For example, my date of birth is December 29, 1988
Month: 1 – 2 – 3
Day: 2 – 9 – 11 (This is a master number, so it does not need to be reduced to a single digit)
Year: 1 – 9 – 8 – 8 – 26
2 – 6 – 8
If I add them together 3 – 11 – 8 – 22
My life path number would be 22. (Again, this number should not be reduced to a single digit because it is a master number).
